Twitter is looking for summer interns to work on some of the most interesting technical challenges to help us accomplish our goals. These range from bite-sized feature development projects to large operational undertakings, such as building the systems that enable us to deliver fast, scalable and reliable services to users. Responsibilities
- Find simple solutions to complex problems, and refine not only the technical and algorithmic aspects of large systems, but the way they enable teams to accomplish goals
- Code using primarily Java, Scala, Ruby, and C++ for the backend and in Ruby, HTML/CSS, and Javascript if you are doing more on the front end (project dependent)
- Work on the scalability, resilience, and efficiency of backend components
- Build storage systems, libraries, and frameworks
- Work in a team-oriented environment
- Pro-actively look for ways to make Twitter better
Qualifications & Desired Skills
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience with web infrastructure, distributed systems, or component-oriented software engineering
- Demonstrated open-source contribution
- Previous success in a performance-critical environment
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming or developing/designing large software systems
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Active user of Twitter

Intern – Internationalization

Twitter is looking for a short term intern for 3 months for our Internationalization team to help us accomplish our goals. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with our Internationalization support team and learn more about the technology business. Not only will you make an immediate impact on our dynamic ecosystem, you will work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry and thrive in a culture that always puts users first. This is a part-time internship starting in April/May with an expected commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Assist with organizing events and setting up logistics
- Coordinate w/ team to streamline internal processes
- Improve communications within team by helping to build tools and aggregating information
- Support team members with administrative needs
- Pro-actively look for ways to make Twitter better
Qualifications & Desired Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills – desire to support team members and work collaboratively

Intern — Los Angeles, CA
Twitter is looking for an intern to work in the Business Development group, focused on entertainment and media, to help us accomplish our goals. You’ll have the opportunity to learn both about the media and technology businesses. Not only will you make an immediate impact on our dynamic ecosystem, you will work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry and thrive in a culture that always puts users first. This is a part-time internship. This position is based in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Research and compile information on high-profile users
- Identify potential Twitter users
- Aid in organizing the media landscape (PR firms, agencies, management companies, law firms)
- Identify unique opportunities in 2011 for Twitter to work on
- Work in a team-oriented environment
- Pro-actively look for ways to make Twitter better
